I am extremely honoured to have been invited to check out the i-hub@SIWW (Singapore International Water Week) booth earlier today, thanks to SIWW and NuffnangSG! 😀
Water is a source of life
and with the rapid urbanisation of more parts of the world,
there is an ever increasing demand for water that is safe to drink.
Coping with the growing needs of clean drinking water and adequate sanitization is one of the most pressing issues of this century,
and thus sustainable, efficient and equitable methods of urban water management are highly essential.
Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) is a global platform where industry leaders gather and exchange ideas to co-create innovative solutions in the face of these modern day challenges.
There were a ton of booths at the SIWW at MBS Convention Centre!
And here’s the i-hub@SIWW booth!
The i-hub@SIWW is an interactive booth that engaged SIWW participants through various on site and online activities.
Visitors walked through several activity stations such as a Spin-and-Win Game, a Photo-taking Booth, and were informed on the latest buzz on SIWW through informative digital displays!
The concept of the booth exuded a really futuristic vibe, in line with the objective of creating innovative and viable solutions to shape the future of water and our cities! 😀
It definitely caught my attention and made me want to check out the various stations, and I was particularly interested in knowing more about the #SIWWPledge 😀
The primary objectives of #SIWWPledge is to increase global awareness of pressing water challenges and rally the global water community to contribute towards the common water cause.
The #SIWWPledge Beneficiary is Water.org‘s mandate of delivering international water and sanitation solutions,
which resonated well with the global nature of this initiative, and SIWW’s focus on innovative solutions.
Delegates, young water professionals and students who visited the i-hub@SIWW booth were encouraged to show their support for the #SIWWPledge, and had their photos taken with the pledge boards as part of their contribution for a common water cause!
And all the photos uploaded to the platform were displayed on a unique animation on the TV screen onsite! 😀
Super cool ^~^
You can also see these pictures on the platform’s main page!
I couldn’t decide which pledge board to take as props for my pledge cause I definitely would love to support sustainable water solutions, and I also want to do my best to spread awareness about water conservation…..
SO I TOOK BOTH BOARDS!! 😛
Hahah super kiasu (scared to lose out)!
AND I PLEDGE TO SPREAD AWARENESS ON WATER CONSERVATION! ^~^
It was really awesome to see industry leaders, delegates, policy makers and many more important figures gather at the i-hub@SIWW to show their support for this meaningful cause!
Here is Richard E. Thorsten, the Director of International Programs at Water.org and I doing the #SIWWPledge! 😀
He’s a really amiable and charismatic figure, it was truly a pleasure meeting him at the event and learning more about Water.org from him!
For more than twenty years, Water.org has been at the forefront of developing and delivering sustainable solutions to the global water crisis.
Water.org pioneers innovative, community-driven and market-based solutions to provide universal access to safe water and sanitation, giving women hope, children health and communities a future.
To date, Water.org has positively transformed millions of lives around the world, ensuring a better life for generations ahead.
For those who made their pledges on site,
there was also a photo collection booth where we were given the printout of our photos! 😀
Apart from the photo booth, visitors could also get the latest updates about SIWW through the various social media feeds on the interactive digital display!
Isn’t it adorable that it’s shaped like a giant tablet? 😀
And not forgetting the Spin-And-Win game at the booth!
Woohoo, there’re even Nuffnang Notebooks & Badges to be won too! 🙂
I was eyeing on the tablet and hoping I’d win it though, hahah!
I wonder who was the super lucky winner!! 😀
I think it’s fantastic that the i-hub@SIWW incorporated the fun, informative as well as meaningful elements so well into their booth, and was thus able to capture the attention and interest of the visitors completely! 😀
Last but definitely not the least, one of the most unforgettable moments in the 24 years of my humble existence –
watching PM Lee grace the event as the Guest-of-Honour at such a close distance!!! 😀
PM Lee being informed about the $1 from sponsors per #SIWWPledge taken!
And here’s PM Lee’s pledge to spread awareness on water conservation!! Yay! 😀
If you’d like to make your pledge for the common water cause too, please read on for more details!
Tried my best to contain my excitement but I must say I was really star-struck!
Really grateful to NuffnangSG and PUB for this once in a lifetime opportunity!!Without a doubt, PM Lee is an awe-inspiring and respectable leader for our country,
and I was pleasantly surprised by how down-to-earth and approachable he was to all of us! 😀
Tried my luck with troubling him to say “hello” to my vlogging camera
and I’m still extremely overwhelmed that he agreed to it!! :’)
In just a short span of a few hours at the i-hub@SIWW event,
it was truly a humbling and yet enriching experience.I met and heard about people of my age (and some even younger) who are doing so much more for this water cause,
and doing their part to co-create solutions for a more sustainable urban water management for the betterment of the world as a whole and also for our future generations.
I also learned about the pressing water challenges,
especially in developing countries and my heart really goes out to them.I’d really like to help make a difference to the selected beneficiary of the #SIWWPledge, Water.org, which is dedicated to helping these underprivileged,
and I hope you all will feel the same way too! 🙂
Here’s the good news – the #SIWWPledge is not limited to just the SIWW delegates! 😀
Netizens worldwide (you and I!!) are also invited to make a pledge for a common water cause on the online platform http://www.campaign.com/SIWWPledge/
The #SIWWPledge is an initiative that leverages on the power of social media to rally the global water community towards the water cause. Through this unique initiative, SIWW hopes to encourage people around the world to take more interest in water-related issues and inspire one another to do more for the water cause! 🙂
What we should all do right now is to submit our pledges (& put them to practice!) and encourage as many people we know to do the same!
Since the cap given by the sponsors is $40,000 SGD and it’s $1 per pledge,
Let’s try our best to hit it and do as much as we can to this meaningful cause, one pledge at a time! 😀
1. Take a selfie (feel free to use props if you like!!)
2. Type in your water pledge as your caption
(eg. I will take shorter showers to do my part in saving water!)
It’ll only take 2 minutes of your time,
so let’s all do our part to spread global awareness about these pressing water challenges!
