If you happen to be one of the thousands of working-class heroes in the Tanjong Pagar area eight hours a day, five days a week, be sure to check this place out. So where is this place, I hear you ask? Telok Ayer Green. Ever heard of this place? It’s a small and little-known patch of heaven located along- yes, you guessed it- Telok Ayer Street, just a stone’s throw away from the famous Amoy Street Food Centre. A beautiful pond and benches in the shade make this a great place to catch your breath every once in a while.
It’s a great place to just chill out during lunch time, listen to the water calmly patter into this little pond and just relax, unwind, and basically forget about work for a bit. There are several benches in this small park, making this the perfect place to relax after grabbing a simple sandwich and some good coffee. Not many people seem to know of this place, so there usually wouldn’t be any problems getting a seat here, which makes this place that much more awesome. There are also a few plaques scattered around this park, telling the history of this area, which makes for a casual yet very informative read. Are there any hideouts you have near your work place? Let me in on your favourite escapist spots in the comments.
